J.W. Hulme Store | Galleria Mall
Galleria Mall, Edina MN
For J.W. Hulme’s second retail location opening, Ernest was tasked with designing a space that would match the upscale environment of a luxury mall while staying true to the heritage of a century old American leather goods brand. Fresh & inviting design
for a heritage leather goods company
J.W. Hulme Store | Galleria, Edina MN
J.W. Hulme Store | Grand Avenue
For J.W. Hulme’s inaugural location on Grand Avenue, Ernest designed an elevated and approachable space to convey the brand’s rich history as leather goods maker. Integrating the old-school charm of Grand Avenue’s historic brick facades, Ernest created a bright and shopable environment with eye catching window displays and oversized brand visuals. Opting for a fresh and inviting feel, he selected light woods, fresh colors and light toned leather seating to evoke the heritage of the Hulme brand while giving the space a slightly modern lift.

Ernest Alexander | San Francisco
For the Ernest Alexander west coast store in San Francisco, Ernest wanted to evoke the lightness of the calm California setting. The biggest challenge of this project was balance the small layout of this boutique space while still telling the brand story and displaying product in a cohesive way. Evoking the lightness of the Hayes Valley surroundings, Ernest chose white painted floors, white shelving and tall archival accessory displays to create a sense of openness. He chose small touches such as natural cactus to play off the sunny feeling of the neighborhood.
